Maybe you have wondered for a long time what it would be like to dress like a “Her” for an hour… or a day.  Maybe you’ve had a taste of feeling girlish… and you want more.

Have you always wanted to feel free to be your true self in front of someone who can appreciate and help develop the femininity that is within you?

Maybe my approach is unusual, but I’m not opening The Red Carpet Room just to make you pretty (although I’ll bet you anything that I can 😉).

My main goal is not to punish the woman in you. It’s my intention to help to create her, and to celebrate her.

When I was a young kid I was dazzled by my beautiful, stylish mother.

Like most girls and many boys, my mom’s makeup collection was one of my favourite girlhood playgrounds.  I never felt pretty, myself.  My mom’s standards always seemed elusive, and I never felt that I looked good enough, except on rare occasions.

My mom despaired!  “Put some earrings in, you look like a boy” still rings painfully in my ears.  She meant well, but… I’ve spent most of my life trying to overcome that “ugly duckling” self loathing, and glamour would fuel my dreams and artistic interests.  I saved up and bought myself my first “serious” camera, and learned to develop and print photos in the nerdy comfort of my high school camera club’s  darkroom.

I collected vintage Vogue magazines and its photographers were my heroes.  My favourites still include Cecil Beaton and Irving Penn, Helmut Newton, Annie Liebowitz.

Images of the original supermodels filled my imagination, including Jean Shrimpton, Twiggy and Grace Jones.

Perhaps to compensate for feeling inadequate as a girl, I pursued a career in department store makeup artistry.  I acquired years of experience in the cosmetics industry, by first working at and then managing counters for Clinique.  Then with MAC… well, that was it for me, I loved the cosmetics industry with all of my heart!  Those years were incredible.  Ask me about them, and I’ll tell you stories… (wink).

Well, I still love glamour, but I enjoy everyday realistic beauty, too!
